From manuscript to book
As editor and acquisitions editor, you transform dreams to reality. You also transform somewhat tattered, awkward things into great books.
Good editing is a combination of down to earth craftmanship (punctuation, grammar, dialogue), the art of storytelling (point of view, plot, pacing), and the big picture (originality and realization of the theme, the book's marketability).
The most interesting challenge to me is combining the down to earth details with the big picture in a way that gives the reader a smooth reading experience.
I worked for American publishers, and I edited books written by English-speaking authors.
